A Counterfeit Betrothal

Author: Mary Balogh
Stars: 4
Review by: BookLover

Lady Sophia wants to get her parents back together, so she talks Lord Sutton, a known rake, into pretending to be her betrothed.  Fourteen years after the separation, the father writes to the mother to tell her to come help him talk some sense into their daughter.  The mother comes, but it is very frustrating because you know they love each other; they just have to stop being so stubborn and prideful, which they do, and fall even deeper in love.

In the meantime, Lord Sutton realizes he is in love with Lady Sophia and must make her aware she loves him too.  All ends well.  They get married before the mother and father get together.

Some parts of bringing the older couple together became so emotional, it brought tears to my eyes.  The mother gets pregnant after 14 years and hides it from her husband.  He finds out, goes to her, and is there for her labor and the birth of their son.

Love renewed - beautiful.
