The Renaissance at War

Author: Thomas Arnold
Stars: 2
Review by: MandyApgar

I got this for the battle diagrams, and darn near fell asleep on the prose. Somewhat short at just over 200 pages, it did not carry enough of a spark. Explanations for battles were too childish and simplistic, with not enough attention given to strategy or military practice. Very amply illustrated with related paintings, etchings, the diagrams, and suchlike, but the dialog is too much like being lectured and not at all interesting in tone.
