Previous to reading The Great Gatsby, I watched the movie, so I had a certain set of expectations for the book. I felt that compared to the movie, the book was not overly exceptional. The book was well-paced and it kept moving, which was definitely a positive. I wish the book had more detail and description in terms of setting and character development. In some parts, I felt that the book was too fast paced and didn't delve deep enough into explaining the situation. Especially towards the end of the book though, the pace slowed down and there was more structure as to the author's vision for the book. Overall, the book left a lot of room open for imagination, while creating a loose storyline open for interpretation.
