Mansions in Miniature: Four Centuries of Dolls' Houses

I had a few problems with this. On the point of concept, it is a good idea. A nice, fairly thick and large book featuring doll houses as art (as they originally were) instead of toys. Thing is, it runs about 252 pages of readable material and 62 pages of that is the actual text. That's all, 62 bloody pages is supposed to cover 4 centuries. The text is very dry, and an even bigger fault is how grainy the pictures are. Very few photos are in color and the last several pages are all captioned photos. So many are somewhat hard to interpret, especially when the caption is going on about the colors and detail it would've helped to have been able to see either. A few rooms warrant several pages, with in one case the exact picture reprinted on 2 consecutive facing pages to illustrate 2 different points. A nice idea, but sloppily done.
