Having enjoyed immensely Follett's Pillars of the Earth, I expected this
non-fiction spin-off to expand on the architecture of medieval cathedrals. There
are hundreds of gorgeous, detailed photos, but the text is excerpts from the
fictional Pillars not necessarily related to the photos on the same page. The
introduction, by a master stonemason contributing to NYC's Cathedral of St. John
the Divine, is inspiring and proves that the ancient skills in "Pillars" are
still alive and appreciated today.
