Written in the first person, this 1948 novel set in the 1930's England,
is about a poverty stricken artistic family who are three years in
arrears on the castle they rent. They encounter the new American owners
of the castle and one thing leads to another. The author also wrote
THE ONE HUNDRED AND ONE DALMATIANS.
