Author: George Pelecanos
Stars: 3.5
Review by: Dad of Twins from Ringoes
Pelacanos, the writer for HBO's hard-nosed prison series, The Wire, weaves a familiar tale of a kid who gets into some trouble, finds himself incarcerated in a juvenile offender's facility, now out in society and trying to keep his nose clean. It's a taut story that does not quite get too high and too low. Pelecanos's tale is evenly told and that's probably its greatest weakness. It's a good story, but I thought it needed a little more kick towards the end. Overall, a solid piece of writing.
