This is a novella about a mother and daughter visiting Florence
in the 1960s. The daughter is 26 with a childlike disposition due to an
injury, however she meets and falls in love with a charming Italian man
who seems to understand her innocence. The mother is in a quandary,
wanting to do the best for her daughter and see her happy or should she
tell the Italian family of the injury. I saw the movie starring Olivia
De Havilland, Rossano Brazzi, George Hamilton just weeks before I
visited Florence over memorial day weekend and read the story while I
was there! Actually had dinner in the "Piazza." See the movie first, then
read the book, both delightful.....Ciao!~
