Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic

Author: Sam Quinones
Stars: 4
Review by: libraryaimee

This is the scariest book about America you will ever read.  It chronicles the introduction of OxyContin in the 1990s and the way in which doctors were encouraged to prescribe it for any kind of pain as it was promoted as being "nonaddictive." Turns out it is highly addictive and its use and promotion led the way to an epic rise in heroin use.  Frightening.
