Excellent book. A murder trial in 1935 rural Virginia
garners national attention. The "big city" reporters arrive along with
Carl, the local boy looking to make it as a reporter. There is mystery
about the crime, commentary on the press (that may apply today as well),
and thought provoking insight into the private lives of the
characters. I enjoyed each of the intertwining stories, and was
satisified with the ending.
