Although little is known about Annette Vallon, Mr. Tipton
has written a rather good novel about this heroine of the French
Revolution and the mistress and muse of William Wordsworth. At times,
the novel reads as slowly as a Wordsworth poem, at other times,
especially when about the Reign of Terror and Mlle. Vallon's role in
helping people escape, it moves quickly.
