Read this based on the review of another summer reading club member. Honestly, I
was disappointed. First, many of these "50 popular beliefs" are not *that*
popular...I know very few people who even consider these things (like flying
saucers) as possibilities. Second, although the author vehemently opposes many
of these beliefs, and is adamant that the believer is responsible for proving
them to be true, he does not do much to prove his theories, making it seem that
he does not follow his own rules. (For example, he writes a scathing report of
those who believe in creation, simply says that evolution is proof that creation
is not true...but gives none of the evidence that he demands of others to
"prove" evolution). Finally, his writing seems to indicate that he is one of
those people who likes to be difficult, critical, and accusatory simply for the
sake of being difficult, critical, and accusatory. I am not entirely convinced
that he believes what he writes, but that his goal is to incite readers...if
there are actually any who believe the myths that he speaks of.

I agree he is angry and I think he likes to make people angry but I think many people still believe these things, even UFO's, even if they don't say it out loud. I too wonder if he really lives the talk. Sometimes total logic doesn't provide the best answer.
