East Is East

Author: T.C. Boyle
Stars: 4
Review by: bd

Classic T.C. Boyle...either you love him or hate him, I think. I had never heard of this book (published in 1990) and was surprised and excited to have discovered it by accident. In a nutshell: a half-Japanese fugitive jumps ship (literally) and ends up hiding out at an artist's colony on an island in Georgia. Dark and funny, edgy and loquacious (and there were several words I had to look up!) It's not a story for everyone, but I enjoyed it very much.
