Kathryn Stockett, who grew up in the South during the tumultuous Civil Rights era of the 1960s, has written a novel of those times about a young woman writing a book about the "help" and their attitudes and experiences with the white families they tend to. This is a real eye-opener and a fascinating story told by an insider. The characters, both black and white, are unforgettable.
