The Calligrapher's Daughter

Author: Eugenia Kim
Stars: 4
Review by: patco81

This novel covers a crucial period in Korea's history, 1910-1945, when a traditional way of life is threatened by world events, when personal humility and obedience to family are overshadowed by the base need to survive. The glossary and historical notes at the end of the book were very helpful; perhaps should have been placed at the beginning for clarification of terminology and context.
