Written as a series of letters between a writer (Juliet), her editor, friends, and inhabitants of the island of Guernsey, in the period immediately following WWII. Thanks to a used book, Juliet becomes acquainted with islanders and learns their stories: how they survived the war, the hardships they endured, and how the creation of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society helped them get through.
A very enjoyable book, both funny and touching, about friendships and hardships. Highly recommended.
