I rated this book a 2 only because it was a bit depressing. It certainly is well written and also on the list of 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. Historical fiction. 1920s Ireland. Ireland and England still at odds. An Irish/English family decide to leave the country after someone tries to torch their house. 9 year old girl doesn't want to leave and runs away. Family believes her dead and leaves the country ... that's just in the first few chapters!
