Novel about how a valuable illuminated book from the 1400's might have survived to the present. The book is real and can be seen today in Sarajevo. The people who rescued the book through the ages are wonderful inventions of the author's creative mind.

"Miss Lucy"
Written in a style reminiscent of Girl in Hyacinth Blue, People of the Book is a fictionalized account of the provenance of the enigmatic Sarajevo Haggadah - a book that has mysteriously disappeared and reappeared several times in the last five centuries. My only criticism is that it was a bit too difficult to follow all the connections of events and people. I learned a lot about European history, but this was not a dry account by any means. People of the Book leaves you with hope that Muslims, Jews, and Christians can co-exist in harmony.
